HOW TO GET HERE

By Car - 5min drive

Directions from South/city-centre: follow Sjøveien past Bryggen, around Bergenhus Fortress-Bontlabo-Skuteviken- turn right after the Neumann Construction / Domino Pizza / Shell Express gas station onto Sandviksveien, first right onto Sandvikstorget. Directions from North/Åsane: Follow E39 past Eidsvåg, NHH and Old Bergen, turn right at the sign marked Sandviken BEFORE Fløifjellet-tunnel, drive past Gjensidige-building and Bergen School of Architecture. Before Shell Express gas station, at the traffic light, turn left on Sandviksveien, first right onto Sandvikstorget.

 

                    Walking - 15-20min

To walk from Bryggen, the fastest way is through Bergenhus Fortress to Bontlabo, further to Skuteviken, one can walk through the old railway-tunnel, passing Rosegrenden and onto Sandvikstorget through the small Bakersmauet. About 15-20min walk from Bryggen/the wharf. (You can also follow Øvregaten from Lower Funicular to Nye Sandviksveien, to Sandviksveien past Sandviken Firestation and Rosegrenden and turn left onto Sandvikstorget.)

By Public Transportation

From Bergen lufthavn Flesland the airport-bus will take you to the town centre/ Bryggen, http://www.flybussen.no/en
Take the right bus (!) the last bus-stop of the airport-bus is by Bryggen, Radisson Blue Royal Hotel, Leaves every 10min.

 

The light city rail Bybanen takes you all the way from the airport to the town centre, use the same ticket to take a local bus from Festplassen or Bryggen. This is the cheapest alternative, and you will use appr.1 hour all the way: https://www.skyss.no/en/

Back to town you can take any bus, the bus-stop is over the road outside "Harbour apartments". (red wooden building by the sea)

Of course you can take a taxi from the airport, which will cost you around 5-600NOK and use about 20-40 minutes. (price and time used depending on the weekday and time of day.)

 

From the railway-station a taxi will cost appr. 200 NOK, and it is only a 10min drive. Or take bus number 16E from "Stadsporten".

  • Sandviksboder Kystkultursenter and Norwegian Fisheries Museum • 15-17 Sandviksboder
    Just over the road from us! Old wooden boats, you can even rent a boat or kayak - nice small harbour to have a picnic, play around for kids, or have a swim! Guided tours in the old buildings dating back to the16th century.                                

  • Bryggen (The old Hanseatic wharf by the main harbour)         On the world herritage-list/UNESCO, Bryggen is a must when you visit Bergen. 15min walk from Sandvikstorget.

  • Old Bergen Museum • 4 Nyhavnsveien
    Open air museum with old houses mainly from the 17th and 18th century. 10-15 min walk from Sandvikstorget. There is also a restaurant and souvenir-shop and swimming area during the summer!

  • Bergenhus Fortress. Public park, the old fortress of Bergen. Outdoor concerts arranged during the summermonths. Music festival in June: https://www.bergenfest.no/english/  Only 10 minutes walk from Sandvikstorget.

  • Stoltzekleiven Walk to the top of Sandviksfjellet, the start is just 5 min from Sandvikstorget. Steep climb with 8-900 steps to the top! Fantastic view, walk down Skredderdalen, or all the way to the funicular ends/Fløien restaurant.

  • Fjellveien Nice walk "along the city", 4,5km from Mon Plaisir in Sandviken to the other end Bellevue.

  • Meyermarken  Park, public-area with playground for children. From us go towards town, passing the church Sandviken kirke, 5 minutes walk from Sandvikstorget.

  • Helleneset  Nice public area, Blue-flag swimming-area, in the sea and seawater in a pool, small beach. 10 minutes drive by bus from Sandvikstorget. (bus 5 and 6)

  • Kristiansholm • Sightseeing
    Fonnafly has a helicopter base here, they offer sightseeing: f.ex.20minutes 4000nkr/4persons.

  • Bergen School of Architecture •  59-61 Sandviksbodene
    Just 2 minutes walk from Sandvikstorget.

  • Norges Handelshøyskole • 30 Helleveien
    Norwegian Economic School. 15minutes walk or 3 minutes on the bus from Sandvikstorget.

  • Måseskjæret • Supermarket COOP Extra, with larger selection of food. 07-23 on weekdays. Saturday 08-21.
